Ball Trap On The Cote Sauvage 1 1989

In comedy drama Ball Trap on the Cote Sauvage the Marriot family's camping holiday in the South of France at the "Brit Camp" section of the Horizon camping ground takes a series of disastrous turns especially once the enigmatic Early Bird and her secret bearing husband arrive on the scene. Typically Davies with its voyeuristic overtones, almost at times like a homage to Mike Leigh's Nuts in May and full of scintillating dialogue and everywhere the scent of sex. There is a fabulous cast on board too, Jack Shepherd and Zoe Wanamaker as the Marriots are the initially calm centre around which everyone else journeys into the surreal but Miranda Richardson and Michael Kitchen steal things with their clearly insane double act. Quite a bit of the production was filmed in Cornwall and the drama was part of the BBC's Screen One strand of high quality shot on film productions of the late 80's and early 90's.

More affordable housing for Cornwall..........Nigel Pearce Bude blog

I have always thought it was wrong that young people all over the country can usually chose to live and work where they were brought up but if you live in Cornwall unless you are very lucky if you want a good job and somewhere to live you have to move away from Cornwall. You can have you say in the future of Cornwall because during February March and April 2011 Cornwall council are consulting the people of Cornwall and asking them about the future and where development needs to be distributed throughout the county. It is called the Core Strategy Options Consultation and sounds very boring but it is about how many social houses we build for local people. The core strategy is also about where we have employment land and if we build it in the main Cornwall towns or if we build throughout Cornwall in the smaller towns and villages where the majority of people live. Look out for details in the local press or call at your one stop shop or phone the CC planning dept on 0300 1234151 and say you want to have your say on the Local Development Framework. I think employment should be where people live and they should not have to travel miles to go to work. I would like to see a much higher percentage of social houses built by developers. In the past it was about 25% and in the future it needs to be much higher we need 60 70 and 80% proportion of social housing built by developers if we are to stop the mass exodus of young people from Cornwall. If you are watching this after the end ...

A brilliant camping trip to Polzeath in Cornwall was topped off with 2 hours of Coasteering. All that jumping into the water made us feel like the Goonies, so the resulting edit was to be expected really.

Popular Attractions You Can Explore in Cornwall

You must make sure that you stay at the Cornwall holiday cottages when you go on your  Cornwall holidays.  Whether you are travelling alone or you are with a large group composed of family and friends, the Cornwall holiday cottages are always an ideal place to stay. Here are some attractions in Cornwall that you must explore during your Cornwall holidays.

Flambards Village Park

One of the most popular attractions in Cornwall is the Flambards Village Park which used to be called as the Cornwall Aero Park during its opening in 1976. The place is not too far from the Cornwall holiday cottages so it is easy to go and explore the many interesting displays here at the park.  Until now, you will see some of the original aircrafts that were part of the original park.  There is also a war gallery where you can see different aircraft models.

You can also try exploring the Concorde fuselage that was used for exercises on evaluating the best escape routes in case there is an aircraft accident.  There are different games and rides at the park that your kids will enjoy.  The "Britain in the Blitz" is an exhibit that shows the sights and sounds of the blitz and looking at this exhibit gives you an idea of what it was like during the war in London. Take your family with you to the Flambards Village Park during your Cornwall holidays as it is just located near the town of Helston which is a few minutes away from the Cornwall holiday cottages.

Cornish Birds of Prey Centre

One place you must visit during your Cornwall holidays is the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre.  This place is not too far from your Cornwall holiday cottages but you will see many interesting things especially if you are a nature lover.

The bird centre has 50 different birds of prey including some of the most beautiful ones.  The kids will really enjoy watching the different types of birds such as the kookaburras, macaws, parrots, ducks and pheasants.  You can even see some falcons and you can get a lot more information about falconry if you are interested.

You can go to the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre as early as 10 a.m. and do a guided tour on the different amazing birds. There is a short lecture after the tour that teaches you about the history of falcons and an introduction of different birds.  You will learn a whole lot more about birds after this very educational introduction.  You can also have your lunch at the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre and spend the rest of the day looking at other interesting sights of better yet go fishing at the lake. This is one of the interesting sites that you must include in your Cornwall holidays.

Car parks price increase..........NigelPearceBude on Twitter..........Nigel Pearce Bude Blog

The Conservative run Cornwall Council propose to increase car park season ticket prices from £195 to £400 this year and then to £600 next year. I and my fellow Lib dem Councillors are opposed to these unacceptable price rises. The councils price increase will mean more people will find somewhere else to park for free in a residential areas. The way to increase revenue is to reduce our car park charges so more people will park in our empty car parks. Many of the Council Cabinet who are making this decision claim to be business people but how many people would continue to shop if the owner put up their prices by 200% All Cornwall Council are doing by increasing charges by 200% is driving people away from their car parks and their revenue will go down. If you want to object to Cornwall Councils plans you can write or email the Cabinet Members at Cornwall Council and details are on the Council web site or you can get details on the council phone help lines or your one stop shop.

Holidays in Cornwall - Top Coastal Towns

A recent winner of 'Best UK Holiday Destination' by The British Travel Awards 2009, Cornwall has much to offer. Situated in the Westcountry this award-winning county boasts stunning coastal scenery, over 300 beaches, top family attractions, a range of Cornwall hotels, self catering accommodation and quaint coastal towns and villages.

Such coastal towns and villages are dotted on the North and South coast of Cornwall. Full of character and Cornish charm these coastal towns attract many visitors each year. On exploration of Cornwall you will notice a variety of distinctive Cornish place names. Many are named after saints, such as St Agnes and St Ives which refer to the early Celtic Christian missionaries who brought Christianity to Cornwall. Others have common prefixes such as 'Tre' (house, farm or village), 'Chy' (dwelling) and 'Pen' (headland).

Below are just a few of some of Cornwall's most picturesque coastal towns worth visiting:

Fowey

Fowey is situated at the estuary of the River Fowey and has a unique and unspoilt charm, with medieval and Tudor cottages, cobbled walkways, beautiful luxury Cornwall hotels, narrow streets and a busy boating scene.

It is rich in nautical history. It can be traced back to the Middle Ages where it acted as an important port for warship and galleons. It also played an important role on the exportation of China Clay during the 18th Century.

Fowey has strong connections with the famous author, Dame Daphne Du Maurier, whereby she spent most of her life. Each May there is festival in the town which celebrates her life and her work.

Nearby beaches include Readymoney Cove, a sheltered cove situated close to the mouth of the River Fowey, Par Sands a large beach which is located to the West of Fowey and Lantic Bay, a quiet cove which lies East of Polruan.

St Ives

St Ives is one of the most stunning towns in Cornwall, if not the South West.

The whole peninsula offers a haven for walkers, photographers, artists and writers giving inspiration thorough beautiful scenery and unspoilt beauty. It has enticed artists such as Barbara Hepworth and Ben Nicholson and is home to the Tate Gallery which opened its doors in 1993.

St Ives was named after the saint Ia or Hya, an Irish princess who introduced Christianity to the area in the 5th Century. The town boasts an array of sea-front restaurants, galleries, small Cornwall hotels, guesthouses and specialist stores which are all located within quaint, narrow cobbled streets. Porthminster Beach and Porthmeor Beach are just a short walk away from the town. Porthmear is a surfing beach whereas Porthminster offers calmer shores and is perfect for swimming - both are great for families.

Padstow

Padstow is located on the north coast of Cornwall and is most famously known for the presence of the chef Rick Stein where he has a number of establishments, including a seafood restaurant, deli and fish and chip takeaway.

For a bit of fun try the Camel Trail which was a former tram line and now a cycle route which runs through the towns Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. Beaches near Padstow include Trevone Bay, a beach perfect for rock pool exploring and family picnics and Rock which is situated opposite Padstow. Either drive round to Rock or take the ferry.
